Widely considered one of Broadway’s all-time greatest shows. The original Broadway production officially opened at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway on July 25, 1975, after a sold-out Off-Broadway run at the Public Theater. Directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, the show featured music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban, and a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante.
A CHORUS LINE dominated the 1976 Tony Awards, taking home nine trophies, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. The production ran for a record-breaking 6,137 performances, and held the title of Longest-Running Show in Broadway History until 1983, when CATS took the title.
